It documents the progress of the Romanian coastal and maritime planning introduction under PlanCoast and beyond it www.plancoast.ro.Among others, the Romanian version of the PlanCoast Handbook on Integrated Maritime Spatial Planning can be downloaded there. 2009-01-09 BaltSeaPlan project approved! The follow-up project of PlanCoast in the Baltic Sea region has been approved as one of the 24 projects ofthe first call of the Baltic Sea Region Programme eu.baltic.net/. We are looking forward to pushing forward the EU Maritime Policy through practicing Integratated Maritime Spatial Planning in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Russia. 2008-06-18 BaltSeaPlan project application submittedThe INTERREG IVB BSR BaltSeaPlan is planned as potential follow-up of BaltCoast and PlanCoast projects in the Baltic Sea region (Sweden, Danemark, Germany, Poland, Russia, Lithuanien, Latvia and Estonia). The project application has been submitted by s.Pro and the lead partner: German Federal Hydrographic and Maritime Agency within the first call of proposals (deadline March 2008) with a project duration between 2009–2011 with possible extension until 2014. Project budget is 4,5 Mio EUR. The project will be building on the current efforts within the Baltic Sea region (i.e. EU Blue Book national Maritime Strategies, Helcom Action Plan, climate change scenarios, Blue Corridors, Motorways of the Sea etc), and of course support the preparation of Integrated Maritime Plans throughout the partner countries. 2008-06-18 PlanCoast Handbook is out now!Just in time for the project end the PlanCoast Handbook on Integrated Maritime Spatial Planning was published. This 100 pages publication adresses in the first place the coastal and marine stakeholders such as politicians and managers, who would like to know what is IMSP and why it is so urgenlty needed. Next, the Handbook provides practical guide for spatial planners active in coastal and, in future, maritime areas. This advice is based on the current state-of-art in IMSP, and of course the experience of the PlanCoast pilot initiatives. The PlanCoast project partners shall act as regional distributors of the Handbook, but it also can be downloaded from this website and requested in hard copy under info@plancoast.eu 2008-06-18 PlanCoast project closedThe Interreg IIIB CADSES PlanCoast project finished officially on 15th April 2008. Some of the non-EU partners who signed their national contracting with delay will continue their project activities until summer or fall 2008, but the main project activities are comming to an end just now. After the very successful final meeting in Ravenna in March we can conclude that our project aims have been largely accomplished. For many countries this project meant a breakthough in the process of introduction of intergrated coastal and maritime planning. Through showing how the plans can be made in practise (learning by doing approach) PlanCoast paved the way to new coastal and maritime legislation in countries where it was lacking or imperfect. This publicity activities have just been started during PlanCoast and will continue in the time to come. Important tool here will the PlanCoast Handbook (see above) and this website, which will soon contain the descriptions and final materials of the PlanCoast national pilot projects. 2008-03-18 Final PlanCoast Meeting in Ravenna, Italy, 27-29 MarchAgenda of the final meeting is fixed now: First day (PlanCoast internal) will be dedicated PlanCoast pilot projects results & lessons learned presentations.
